friends. In this post i am going to tell you that how can we add a top
level custom Godaddy domain with blogspot blog. Friends you you will
have know that blogspot gives us free hosting and domain but add its
name in your blog domain name like abc.blogspot.com
You
can also change your domain name and can buy a custom domain name from
godaddy in your blogspot blog. If you buy a custom domain then your
domain name will be called a top level or custom domain and your domain
name will be like abc.com
And
it is very necessary for the professional look of your blog domain.
Beside this Google adsense also like a top level domain for their ads.
Because if you did not buy a custom domain for your blog your blog can
not grow.
How to add a custom Godaddy domain with blogspot blog
- Open your blog dashboard:
To add a custom domain with your blog you should go to your blogspot blog. Www.blogger.com. now enter your gmail id and password. After signing in you will reach in your blogger blog dashboard.
- Go to basic settings:
click on the settings menu in the blogger dashboard. Here click on “setup a third party url for your blog”.
- Third party:
Here
enter the domain name which you purchased from godaddy and want to add
with your blogger blog. Do not enter your domain name without www. After
this click on save button.
- Error messages and cnames: Here you will see an error message and you will also see two cnames. Now leave this page and open a new tab in your browser. Go to godaddy website. Then sign in to godaddy website.
- My products:
- Click on your name.
- Click on my products.
After clicking in my products. You will see the domain option.
- Manage: Here click on the manage button before the domains. By clicking on manage button you will see the domain name.
- Domain name:
click
on the domain name you have to add with your blog. By clicking on the
domain name button the domain details page will be opened.
- DNS zone file:
click on the DNS zone file in the domain details page. After clicking on the DNS zone file you will see the details.
- Add record:
- Here go to cname.
- Then click on add record.
After clicking on Add record Add zone record page will be opened.
- Enter cname 1:
- Select cname in the record type.
- Go to the first tab of your browser means go to your blogger blog. Copy the 1st code of cname 1 and paste it into the host box.
- Go to the first tab of your browser again and copy the 2nd code of cname 1 and paste it into the points to box.
- Select one hour in the Ttl.
- Now click on add another.
After
clicking on the Add another your 1 cname record will be added. Now you
should have to add another cname record on this page.
- Enter cname 2:
- In the record type leave the cname selected.
- Now remove www. And then go to the first tab of your browser copy the 1st code of cname 2 in your blogger blog and paste it into the host box.
- Now remove ghs.google.com. Now go to your blog again and copy the 2nd code of cname 2 and paste it into your points to box.
- Select 1 hour in the Ttl. And then click on finish.
After clicking on the finish you will see a message
- Save changes:
‘action needed ! Your two changer are not final until you save them’. Read this message. Then click on save changes button.
- Zone file updated:
After
clicking on the save changes button your two cname records will be
saved. After this you will see ‘your zone file has been updated dns
resolution may take upto 48 hours to reflect changes’ message on the
right side of your computer screen.
Now your work has been completed in the godaddy. Now return to your blog dashboard.
- Save domain:
Here
you should have to click on the save button. After clicking on the save
button you will be redirected to your godaddy purchased top level
domain.
- Edit domain name:
After this you will see two domain names. Your old one .blogspot.com and your new purchased .com domain name. Here click on edit before .com domain name.
Here click on the redirect. Your blog should open with www and also without www.
Click
on the save button and save the settings. After clicking on save button
you will see ‘your settings were saved successfully’ message.
And thus your blog got the custom domain.
